How to Use Facebook and Twitter from Your Email Client PDF Print E-mail

facebook-twitter_logoSo you’re a fan of Facebook or Twitter, but you can’t access the browser from work or your cellphone. Well now you can use free services like TheFriendMail and Tweetymail using your email.
Facebook and Twitter already offer a few email and SMS features built-in, but if you really want to be able to make the best of their networks via email, TheFriendMail and Tweetymail are great replacements. And they’re easy to use, also: simply sign in with your Facebook or Twitter accounts and start sending emails.

TheFriendMail

TheFriendMail1Facebook already consists of a few built-in email features, but TheFriendMail is far more feature-filled. When first linking TheFriendMail with your Facebook account, you are given the option to choose whether you’d like to give it high or low permissions. If you choose the high permissions version, then you can do nearly anything like share links, photos, status updates, comments, send messages, “like” posts, view profiles and even see your news feeds-all without leaving your email client. To post a Status on your Facebook, send an email to one of their designated email addresses, like This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , and it will post the status for you. It also has a unique designed feature where you can schedule posts to be posted at a certain time in the future. This feature is something not even available in Facebook either yet.
Although, this means that you’d have to provide TheFriendMail with a few permissions to your Facebook account, which we know some people aren’t comfortable with. So there’s the low permissions version option that you can choose that lets you update your status, request your news feeds, and get notifications only. If you choose later that you would like to use the higher permissions then you can always go back and choose that permission version. Right now, TheFriendMail is in beta and is also completely free.

TweetyMail

TweetymailTweetyMail works in the same way as TheFriendMail: although you’re not required to sign-up for a new account, just link your email address to Twitter and start tweeting. To tweet, simply email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with you tweet in the body and it will post your tweet for you. You can also request your timeline via email, send and receive direct messages, get notifications of mentions, and follow other users.

TweetyMail is also a free service, but it also has a paid option that gives you more features, like directly replying or retweeting posts you view from your email. Indeed, you can always just stick with the free version and manually “@” mention people to reply or use the old “RT @” format for retweets.
